Drip Edge Gutter Extensions in Rochester, New Hampshire

'Drip Edge'
refers to the metal flashing installed under the shingles and in front of the fascia. It is designed to guide water away from the fascia and into the gutter. Water's surface tension makes it want to cling to the underside of the shingles and run down the front of the fascia board. It's the very same principle that makes the LeafLock™ gutter protection system work. If this drip edge is not installed properly, it can lead to streaking and (eventually) rotting of the fascia board.
Some gutter companies will attempt to fix this problem with caulking. This doesn't work because even the highest grade exterior caulking will eventually crack and allow water behind it. A properly installed drip edge is the best way to protect your home from this type of water damage.
